St Patrick’s Day 2012 is under way on March 17th and we welcome all those who become Irish on St Patrick’s Day.

Saint Patrick's Day is a cultural and religious holiday celebrated internationally on 17 March. It commemorates Saint Patrick, the most commonly recognized of the patron saints of Ireland, and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. It is observed by the Catholic Church, the Anglican Communion (especially the Church of Ireland), the Eastern Orthodox Church and Lutheran Church. Saint Patrick's Day was made an official feast day in the early seventeenth century, and has gradually become a secular celebration of Irish culture in general.

The day is generally characterised by the attendance of church services,  wearing of green attire and the lifting of Lenten restrictions on eating and drinking alcohol, which is often proscribed during the rest of the season.

Saint Patrick's Day is a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Newfoundland and Labrador and in Montserrat. It is also widely celebrated by the Irish diaspora, especially in places such as Great Britain, Canada, the United States, Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand, among others. Today, St. Patrick's Day is probably the most widely celebrated saint's day in the world.

St. Patrick's Day is a very big deal for all Irish people. Irish people celebrate the St. Patrick’s Day by wearing green clothes, attending the parade, play music, songs and enjoy Irish food & drink. Irish people also arrange special kids activities such as craft, coloring and games on this day. It is kind of a national day celebration in some of the Irish European countries. Not just Irish people celebrate the St. Patrick's Day but it is celebrate by all who enjoyed Irish music, Irish literature and even just Irish company over the years.
