Atlantis Dubai plans eight casual dining outlets

Atlantis the Palm, Dubai is expected to open eight casual dining concepts in 2013, vice president — culinary Mark Patten revealed at the Caterer Middle East Chefs and Ingredients Forum last week.

The hotel, famous to fine dining restaurants Nobu and Ossiano as well as outlets by celebrity chefs Michel Rostang and Giorgio Locatelli, has shifted its focus to casual dining concepts following the success of new outlets The Burger Joint (TBJ) and Asia Republic.

He said the success of TBJ was testament to this.

“Everything that was produced in the day was used in the day. Fresh burgers made in the butcher shop, tomatoes aren’t cut every eight hours, tomatoes are cut every hour, French fries are made from real potatoes, we were getting back to basics.

A similar approach was taken with casual Asian eatery Asia Republic, added Patten, paving the way for eight more casual concepts and just one new “premier” restaurant.

Dubai Mall to celebrate Eid with 24-hour operations on three consecutive weekends

The Dubai Mall world's largest shopping and entertainment destination has announced its participation in Dubai Events & Promotions Establishment's 'DEPE' Eid Al Adha celebrations initiative, with 24-hour continuous operations during three consecutive weekends from October 18 to November 4, 2012.

It is the first time that all aspects of the mall - including the 1,200 retail outlets and the varied must-visit leisure attractions will operate through the day and night on weekends, thus providing visitors more reason to rejoice with family and friends during Eid Al Adha.

They can indulge in shopping with special offers deals, great festive entertainment; dine out at their favourite restaurants and food courts as well as stand to win attractive prizes through raffle draws.


During the Eid in Dubai celebrations, on October 18 and 19, 25 and 26, and November 1 and 2, 2012, The Dubai Mall will be operating for 24 hours, while on weekdays the mall will be open from 10am to 1am for retail outlets, and until 3am for food courts and restaurants.

Visitors to The Dubai Mall can also take delight in an array of activities including roaming entertainment and special events highlighting the cultural traditions of the region. More details will be announced in due course.

Atul Kochhar to launch Dubai restaurant

Atul Kochhar, the top Indian chef will announce to launch his first restaurant in the UAE in December at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai.

The restaurant is located on the fourth floor of the world's tallest hotel, Rang Mahal and Atul Kochhar will showcase the chef's cuisine, which serve Indian fine dining.

"Indian cooking has become a globally recognized and appreciated cuisine and so what better location to launch my latest venture than Dubai - an established culinary capital thanks to a hugely cosmopolitan population with adventurous taste buds," said By Kochhar in a statement.
